Description
Wild OxEye Daisy crowding the shores in the Teton mountain range at Jackson lake in Wyoming. One of the toughest perennial wildflowers, OxEye Daisy is famous for painting entire roadsides white throughout the country. Oxeye daisy prefers upland meadows. The root is perennial and somewhat creeping. The Oxeye Daisy is identified by its large, round flower heads that appear on single, tall stems. The daisy-like flower head is actually not just one flower, but a composite of a number of tiny flowers which make up the yellow disc in the middle and the surrounding white petals. It has spoon-shaped leaves at its base and thin, jagged leaves along the stem. Oxeye daisy is a showy perennial herb in the Asteraceae family.
Spectacular setting at the foot of the Tetons. Jackson Lake is one of the largest and deepest high-altitude lakes in the United States. This 15-mile long glacial lake, located at the base of the Tetons. One of the largest alpine lakes in the country. There are no hiking trails on the western shore of the lake. Talk about a sense of wildness it is there.
