Description
Grizzly bears( ursus arctos horribilis ) in Yellowstone National Park and surrounding area, once as low as 100 animals. 2016 population in Yellowstone area is 674 to 839 Grizzlies is now more than estimated 700 bears. The approximate number of grizzly bears in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem according to the National Park Service in 2016. No one knows the exact number. Current wildlife controversy is going on over grizzly bears at Yellowstone National Park. Grizzlies have been on the endangered species list since 1975 due to unsustainable levels of human-caused mortality, habitat loss, and significant habitat alteration. Now, the federal government says the population has recovered, and lots of people disagree. The agency is aiming to make a final decision by the end of the year 2016. Dawn and dusk in the Hayden and Lamar valleys, on the north slopes of Mt. Washburn, and from Fishing Bridge to the East Entrance are good places to look for grizzly bears.The mammals claws are used for digging, picking fruits, catching prey and on average grow to 3 to 4 inches long.
