A wolf in a big snow storm. Really makes you wonder what its thinking. Wolf are very comfortable in the winters weather. They form very thick and layer coats of fur.The wolf is also very comfortable in the water, and does not hesitate to wade through icy streams or swim across short stretches of lake. In summer, wolves often bathe in streams to keep cool, and they will readily follow prey into water. The wolf has 2 types of hair, "Guards and "Undercoat". Wolves have bulky thick coats consisting of two layers. Their first layer is made up of tough guard hairs that repel water and dirt. Their second layer is a dense, water-resistant undercoat that insulates the wolf and keeps it warm. Their undercoat is shed in the form of large tufts of fur in late spring or early summer.
